Guidelines for Submitting Scientific Papers
- The presenting author should be a Member / Associate member of TNOA and should have registered for the Conference
- Decision on inclusion of paper for medals is at the discretion of the Scientific Committee of TNOA.
- Abstract shall not contain more than 250 words
- The deadline for abstract submission & Full paper is 1st December 2024
- Papers will be considered only on submission of full text.
- The paper must highlight the following: Introduction, purpose, Materials, methods, Results, discussion & Conclusion.
- If the paper is for a medal session, the name of medal for which presented should be indicated by the presenter. If not selected, kindly indicate if paper can be selected under any other category, if applicable.
- Kindly indicate if you would permit the paper to be presented as free paper/e poster presentation in case it is not selected for medal.
- A delegate can present only one paper. Poster presentation can be additional.
- All Scientific Abstracts and Full papers should be submitted only online by logging on to https://tnoacon2025cuddalore.tnortho.org/abstract/
- The papers meant for medal should be submitted in the form of scientific papers for publications and should contain the following:Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Discussion, Results, Conclusion and Reference.
- The presenters for medal papers should give consent for publication in the TNOA journal, if the editorial board of the journal chooses the paper for publication.
- The time for presentation of free papers shall be 4+1 Minutes and 7+2 minutes for medal papers except for TNOA Prof. A. Subramaniam Medal Session where the time allotted would be 10+2 minutes.
- Material for Projection shall be handed over at the Preview room 2 hours before the respective session.
- Speakers are requested to provide scientific material only in Pen Drives. Personal Laptops will not be permitted.
- TNOA shall have the rights to preserve the original articles submitted for scientific presentations, edit if needed and publish them in the journal of TNOA.
Rules and Regulations to submit Medal Papers in TNOACON
All the selected paper presenters should give consent for publication in official journal of TNOA – in the prescribed format (Tamilnadu Orthopaedic Journal & Journal of Orthopaedics and Joint Surgery)
- TNOA Prof. M. Natarajan Medal for Trauma
• Papers with good materials and with minimum of two years follow-up will be considered for inclusion.
• Single case reports and papers with short follow-up will not be considered for the medal.
• Presentations or studies which do not require follow-up can also be considered for inclusion. This will be decided by the Scientific Committee, TNOA.
• The presenting author should not be over 35 years old on the last day of the full paper submission. - TNOA Prof C. Vyageswaradu Medal for Orthopaedics
• Papers with good materials and with minimum of two years follow-up will be considered for inclusion.
• Single case reports and papers with short follow-up will not be considered for the medal.
• Presentations or studies which do not require follow-up can also be considered for inclusion. This will be decided by the Scientific Committee, TNOA.
• The presenting author should not be over 35 years old on the last day of the full paper submission. - TNOA Prof. T. K. Shanmugasundaram Medal for Rural Centers
• Only papers from rural centres without any teaching facility will be considered.
• Rural centre is classified as one which does not fall within the area of a corporation or in the area of a Medical College.
• There is no age limit. - TNOA Prof. A. Subramaniam Medal for Basic Research in Orthopaedics
• Papers should include studies on cadaveric research, biomechanical analysis, microbiology, and the design and fabrication of instruments and implants, etc.
• There is no age limit. - TNOA Prof. P. Dhanarajan Medal for Innovative or Adaptive Trauma Work
• Papers must be on Innovative Trauma Work.
• The author himself must present the paper.
• There is no age limit. - TNOA Prof. M. Ramanathan Memorial Gold Medal for Consultants
• The presentation must be original work created by by the author himself.
• A minimum of 2 years follow up is essential before presentation of the scientific work. This criterion may not be applicable in certain studies which may not require a follow up. This is to be decided by the Scientific Committee, TNOA.
• There is no age limit. - TNOA Prof. T. S. Xavier Medal for Hand Surgery
• Scientific work in hand with at least 2 years follow up may be included in the session.
• Work not requiring a long follow up can be included for presentation by the Scientific Committee, TNOA.
• There is no age limit. - TNOA Prof. S. Rajasekaran Gold Medal for Spine
• No age limit.
• Papers must be clinical & research materials of spine surgery with minimum of two years follow-up should be considered for inclusion. - TNOA Prof. K. Sriram Gold Medal for Paediatric Orthopaedics
• No age limit.
• Papers must be clinical & research materials of Paediatric orthopaedics with minimum of two years follow-up will be considered for inclusion. - TNOA Dr. David V Rajan Gold Medal for Arthroscopy & Sports medicine
• No age limit.
• Papers must be clinical & research materials of arthroscopy & sports medicine with minimum of two years follow-up will be considered for inclusion. - TNOA Prof. Mayilvahanan Natarajan Gold Medal for Orthopaedic Oncology
• No age limit.
• Papers must be clinical & research materials of Orthopaedic oncology with minimum of two years follow-up will be considered for inclusion. - TNOA Prof. B. Radhakrishnan Gold Medal for Foot & Ankle
• No age limit.
• Papers must be clinical & research materials of foot & ankle problems with minimum of two years follow-up will be considered for inclusion. - TNOA Dr. P. Suryanarayan Gold Medal for Arthroplasty
• No age limit.
• Papers must be clinical & research materials of arthroplasty with minimum of two years follow-up will be considered for inclusion.

• The best poster in Arthroplasty displayed in the Annual conference is awarded the TNOA Dr. Vidyashankar Best Poster Medal (Arthroplasty). - TNOA Erode Ortho Club Poster Medal
• The best poster displayed in the TNOACON 2025 annual conference will be awarded the TNOA Erode Ortho Club Poster Medal.
